The power to make decisions from a place of contentment and rest.
I’m afraid I have become a product of the society today. I’ve been running for God knows how long and I have had no idea how to slow it down until quite recently.
Whatever happened to just slowing down and being still?
We seem to have this inherent desire to run from A to B, to C to D and back to A again?
It is okay to take your time.
It is okay to take your time to get to know yourself, much less get to know somebody else.
It is okay to take your time to figure things out.
I’m finding clarity, purpose and contentment in slowing down and it is great. After years and years of giving myself to everyone and everything that came my way, I am so much happier to be able to invest in myself and find out what I like, find out what I enjoy, find out what I can do and to follow my heart and passions. Everything else would hopefully flow out of this place.
Know thyself is a phrase (and originally coined by Plato), which has been ringing true within the past year or so, and I think holds much more weight than we give credit for.
Before, I don’t think I really did know myself. I knew what I was good at, what I was capable of (after all, we are all in-built with the capabilities to do much). But the issue was that I had an interest in everyone and everything, which reflected in my pursuits and passions (this isn’t a major issue but it can become one if I was trying to focus on one too many things). I have streamlined and focused in on just a few within the past year or so, which has enabled me to channel my energies much more effectively than before (thank goodness!). We do have limited resources to offer the day so it is important to decide how and when to invest ourselves, and just how much, as well.
Doing things from a place of peace and contentment, not out of wanting to be elsewhere, not out of wanting to be like anyone else (comparison), not out of discontentment with the exact place you are at right now.
Recognising that I can make decisions from a place of rest and contentment, rather than out of strife or urgency. I find that making decisions out of the prior, doesn't end up very well, and most likely onsets emotional turmoil and most of all, confusion. Making decisions from a place of rest, empowers me rather than drains me.
A little different from previous posts but I hope that you gain some wisdom from this in your own personal endeavours, with the choices you make and the life that you create!

- Knowing ourselves enables us to recognise and go for the opportunities that play to both our passions and skill-set.
- Knowing ourselves enables us to fulfil roles within our family and wider community.
- Knowing ourselves enables us to recognise our own value and worth and what we can offer to the world.
- Knowing ourselves empowers us to recognise what careers and vocations we are capable of fulfilling/pursuing.
